This series consists of seven issues of The States Rights Advocate, which was the official newspaper of the Montgomery County Citizens Council. Covering the time period from Nov. 1956 to April 1957, the issues cover a variety of topics that are supposed show support for segregation between the races. Articles in the paper report on incidents in the state and around the country that appear to support their view that mingling races was wrong. They also report on the activities of any person or organization that supports segregation. Favorite targets of the paper include the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Martin Luther King, Jr., Fred Gray, and the federal government. Worth noting are editorial cartoons presenting African Americans in a derogatory manner. Also of interest are segregationist ads run in the newspaper.
